Q: I've been told the actuator must be calibrated to the turbo, therefore you cannot buy the actuator separate. Is this true?

A: No, the actuator self-calibrates to the turbo everytime the ignition key is turned on. The actuator can be replaced separately without any issues. It is common that companies who sell complete turbocharger assemblies (including actuators), spread this myth to scare customers into buying an overpriced new turbocharger.

Q: Why do the actuators fail? What part malfunctions?

A: The actuator is weatherproof sealed with a rubber profile o-ring. Over time, the o-ring contracts and becomes brittle. It loses the seal and allows moisture to penetrate to the internals of the actuator. This causes corrosion and eventually leads to actuator failure. Our actuators have repaired with SMT components replaced, are cleaned of corrosion, resealed and tested. This will deliver years of trouble-free service.
